During Lockdown I started experiencing Menopausal symptoms. Hot flushes, sore joints, restless sleep and a severe lack of energy and motivation got worse each month. My doctor was adamant that due to my age I was too young to be going through the menopause and it could just be the side effects of Long Covid. Nonetheless, I decided to get tested to find out what was actually happening to my body, as I started to also gain a lot of fluid retention and sleeping was now becoming unbearable due to the pain I would experience whilst lying down. When my test came back negative I was very anxious as to what I could do to find a cure or help me cope with these symptoms and to try and get some sort of help to manage to get some needed sleep.
I decided to contact ‘Calming Pursuits’ to seek guidance in this foreign journey I had unexpectantly found myself in. With the guidance from Vanessa and her vast knowledge of Nutrition through natural medicine I embarked on a treatment which included vitamin supplements, food alteration, physical and mental exercises for the first month. After a few weeks of following Vanessa’s plan, I started to notice a less restless sleeping pattern, more energy during the day and most of all the inflammation and pain in my joints were starting to ease.
February 2021, I realised I had not had a period for several months so I decided to get another blood test to see what was happening to my body. This time the result I had expected was confirmed. I had actually been going through early menopause.
I was very overwhelmed as I knew I did not want to embark on a hormone replacement treatment but I knew I needed to do something to help me get through such a huge change in my life. I decided to contact Vanessa yet again to help me adapt with this change.

My Hot flushes are not completely gone but instead of every night they only happen once a week. My sore and swollen joints don’t disturb my sleep due to the specific exercise I was recommended. During such a scary and uncertain change I was so happy to have someone that really cared as to how I was adapting, Vanessa would always contact me to make sure everything she had recommended was helping and if it wasn’t then she knew exactly how to adapt with alternate natural treatment.
